PTA to Move Against SMS Spam and Phone Spam

SMS spam has become a real issue in Pakistan. Phone Span in the form of unwanted and unsolicited advertisements that almost every Pakistani is very familiar with.

PTA’s plan, if they can pull it off, is to limit the number of SMS that could go out in a specific time period by a subscriber. This will hinder the operations of the numerous marketing software available at just USD 400.  In some cases, friendly vendors toss in a cellphone and a SIM card as as a gesture of  goodwill.

the current news say that the ban would be implemented in two stages. the first stage would a temporary suspension of services which would be accelerated into a more permanent ban in the final stage. te current limit is 200 SMS in a 15 minute window.  here is the clip of the news from Dunya TV.
